WristFob — the NFC car key for Wear OS · Last updated: 16 October 2026
In one sentence: WristFob stores your key on your watch and nowhere else. It has no servers, collects no data, and requires no account.
1. Summary
WristFob turns a Wear OS watch into a key for a car, using the watch's built-in NFC chip. The app is designed so that there is nothing to collect and nowhere to send it.
- No user accounts, no sign-up, no login.
- No analytics, no advertising, no trackers or third-party SDKs.
- No internet permission. The app cannot reach the network.
- No location, contacts, camera, microphone or storage access.
2. What WristFob stores, and where
WristFob creates a cryptographic key pair on first launch. The private key never leaves your watch. It is stored encrypted in the app's private storage, protected by the watch's own hardware-backed keystore (Android Keystore).
The app also stores a small preference: whether you want the watch to require unlocking before it can be read by the car. This stays on the device.
Uninstalling WristFob removes all of it. Note that removing the app also removes the key, which means the watch must be enrolled with the car again.
3. What WristFob does not do
- It does not transmit any data off your watch. There is no server, no backend and no cloud account.
- It does not collect personal information, device identifiers, or usage statistics.
- It does not share anything with third parties, because it has nothing to share and no channel to share it through.
- It does not show advertising.
- It does not send commands to the car and does not control it remotely. WristFob is only a spare physical key, for when your phone is dead and you have no other key at hand.
4. The NFC interaction
When you hold the watch near a car's NFC reader, the watch answers a challenge using its key. That exchange happens directly between your watch and the car, over a very short range. No internet connection is involved, which is why WristFob works with no phone and no signal.
5. Permissions
WristFob requests NFC only. It does not request the
INTERNET permission — the app is technically unable to send or
receive anything over a network.
6. Children
The app is a utility for car owners and is not directed at children. It collects no personal data from anyone, including children.
7. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be published on this page with a new date at the top. Continued use of the app after an update means you accept the revised policy.

3. Qué NO hace WristFob
- No muestra publicidad.
5. Permisos
WristFob pide solo NFC.
7. Cambios a esta política
